Interfacial Adhesion of Fully Transient, Mussel?Inspired Hydrogels with Different Network Crosslink Modalities

چکیده
In fully transient, mussel-inspired hydrogels, metal-coordinate complexes form supramolecular crosslinks, which offer tunable viscoelastic properties and mechanical reversibility. The metal-coordination complexation that comprises the crosslinks can take on tris-, bis-, mono-, free-state modalities (3, 2, 1, or 0 ligands per ion, respectively). Although prior work has established relationships between network crosslinking properties, effect of crosslink ligand gel-surface adhesion is not well understood for transient hydrogels. Using glass nickel-coated spherical probes, adhesive strength hydrogels based histidine-Ni2+ nitrodopamine-Fe3+ ion investigated. Since have a strong impact bulk network, it first determined how relates to regardless distribution type. It ultimately found peak stress increases with decreasing percentage in tris-crosslinks.

Fracture of dual crosslink gels with permanent and transient crosslinks
We have carried out systematic fracture experiments in a single edge notch geometry over a range of stretch rates on dual crosslink hydrogels made from polyvinyl alcohol chains chemically crosslinked with glutaraldehyde and physically crosslinked with borate ions. If the energy release rate necessary for crack propagation was calculated conventionally, by using the work done to deform the sampl...
متن کاملMussel-inspired histidine-based transient network metal coordination hydrogels.
Transient network hydrogels cross-linked through histidine-divalent cation coordination bonds were studied by conventional rheologic methods using histidine-modified star poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) polymers. These materials were inspired by the mussel, which is thought to use histidine-metal coordination bonds to impart self-healing properties in the mussel byssal thread. Hydrogel viscoelastic...

The rough integument of water-walking arthropods is well known to be responsible for their water-repellency [1, 2, 3, 4]; however, water-repellent surfaces generally experience reduced traction at an air-water interface [5, 6, 7, 8]. A conundrum then arises as to how such creatures generate significant propulsive forces while retaining their water-repellency. We here demonstrate through a serie...
متن کاملResponding to Modalities with Different Latencies
Motor control depends on sensory feedback in multiple modalities with different latencies. In this paper we consider within the framework of reinforcement learning how different sensory modalities can be combined and selected for real-time, optimal movement control. We propose an actor-critic architecture with multiple modules, whose output are combined using a softmax function. We tested our a...
متن کاملEstimation of Network Reliability for a Fully Connected Network with Unreliable Nodes and Unreliable Edges using Neuro Optimization
In this paper it is tried to estimate the reliability of a fully connected network of some unreliable nodes and unreliable connections (edges) between them. The proliferation of electronic messaging has been witnessed during the last few years. The acute problem of node failure and connection failure is frequently encountered in communication through various types of networks. We know that a ne...
